How to Play Batak Esli
Description
Batak with a partner. The contract is shared, and so is the blame.
Objective
Bid with your partner and take the tricks you promised between you.
Setup
A standard 52-card deck, four players in two fixed partnerships seated opposite each other. Thirteen cards each.
Rules
The partnership form of Batak. Bids are made for the pair rather than for one player alone, so the contract is shared.
The winning side names trump, and both partners work toward the same trick target.
Follow suit if you can; otherwise trump or discard. Highest trump takes the trick, or the highest card of the suit led.
Winning
The bidding partnership scores the contract if their combined tricks meet or beat the bid, and loses it if they fall short.
The defending pair scores for the tricks they take together.
