How to Play Cambio
Description
You start with four cards you can barely see. Spend the round quietly swapping and peeking, then call "cambio" when you think you have the lowest hand. Everyone reveals. Lowest wins.
Objective
Finish the round with the lowest total card value in front of you.
Setup
Two or more players, using a standard deck plus two Jokers.
Deal four cards face down to each player, arranged in a square. Peek at your two nearest cards once, then leave everything face down for the rest of the round.
The rest forms a draw pile, with one card turned up beside it to start a discard pile.
Rules
On your turn, draw from the draw pile or discard pile. Either swap it into your square for a card you can't see, discarding what you swapped out, or discard the drawn card outright.
Discarding certain cards triggers a power: 7s and 8s let you peek at one of your own cards; 9s and 10s let you peek at an opponent's; Jacks and Queens let you blindly swap a card between two players; Kings let you look at a card and then decide whether to swap it.
At any time, regardless of whose turn it is, you can slap down a card matching the top of the discard pile — get it right and you shed a card; get it wrong and you take a penalty card instead.
Winning
When you think your total is low enough, call "Cambio" on your turn instead of playing — everyone else gets one final turn, then all hands are revealed and totaled.
Lowest total wins the round; calling and losing costs you extra.
Play multiple rounds to an agreed target score — lowest cumulative total wins the match.
