How to Play Golf Solitaire
Description
Seven columns of five cards each and a waste pile that grows one card at a time. Clear the columns by building the waste pile up or down — and count every remaining card as a stroke.
Objective
Clear every card from the tableau before the stock runs out.
Setup
Deal seven columns of five overlapping cards each, all face up. The remaining cards form the stock.
Flip the top stock card face up beside it to start the foundation.
Rules
Move the bottom (exposed) card of any column onto the foundation if it's one number higher or lower than the foundation's current top card — suit and color don't matter.
Moving a card off a column exposes the one beneath it, which becomes playable.
Stuck? Flip the next card from the stock onto the foundation and keep going.
Traditionally, Aces and Kings don't connect to each other — though many versions allow this "wraparound" as an easier option.
Winning
Clear the entire tableau to win — the stock doesn't need to be emptied.
Score by counting how many tableau cards are left if you don't manage to clear it, with lower being better.
Moderate difficulty in its traditional form — the wraparound variant is noticeably easier and a good place to start.
