How to Play Horse Race
Description
Four Aces line up at the starting gate, one for each suit. Place your bet, then watch the cards flip and your horse either streak ahead or fall behind. Luck of the draw, every time.
Objective
Bet on which suit's "horse" will be first to cross the finish line.
Setup
Line up the four Aces face up as the horses at the starting line.
Shuffle the rest of the deck and lay seven cards face down in a track leading to the finish.
Everyone stakes a number of forfeits on the suit they think will win, then takes half their stake up front.
Rules
The announcer flips the top card of the remaining deck one at a time — whatever suit comes up, that Ace advances one space along the track.
When a horse reaches a new space for the first time, flip the track card waiting there — if its suit matches the horse standing on it, that horse stumbles back a space instead.
Keep flipping until one horse crosses the final space.
Winning
Whoever bet on the winning suit hands out their full stake in forfeits to anyone they choose.
Everyone who backed a losing suit takes the rest of what they staked.
