How to Play Palace
Description
A shedding game where the last player still holding cards loses and earns a name they'd probably prefer not to have. Get rid of your worst cards early — or pass them on.
Also known as: Shithead; Karma
Objective
Be first to empty every card you have — hand, face-up, and face-down — and avoid being the last one left holding cards.
Setup
Two to five players. Everyone gets three cards face down, then six cards to their hand.
From your hand, choose three cards to place face up on top of your face-down cards.
The rest of the deck forms the draw pile in the middle.
Rules
Play a card from your hand equal to or higher than the top of the discard pile — or a set of matching cards at once.
Can't play? Pick up the whole discard pile into your hand.
A 2 can be played on anything and resets the pile — the next player can play any card.
A 10 can also be played on anything and removes the whole pile from the game entirely, then you go again.
Once your hand and the draw pile are both empty, start playing your face-up cards the same way — then your face-down cards blind, one at a time, hoping each one is legal.
Winning
The first player to clear hand, face-up, and face-down cards wins.
The last player left holding cards loses.
