How to Play Pife
Description
Three melds of three and you are out. The quickest rummy in Brazil.
Objective
Be the first to complete three melds of three cards each and go out.
Setup
A standard deck with the eights, nines and tens removed for smaller games, or the full deck for larger ones. Deal nine cards to each player.
Turn one card face up to start the discard pile.
Rules
Draw one card from the stock or the top of the discard pile, then discard one to end your turn.
Melds are three cards of the same rank, or three in sequence within a suit.
You hold your melds in hand — nothing is laid down until you go out, so nobody can read your progress.
Winning
Go out by completing three melds and discarding your final card.
A hand completed without ever drawing from the discard pile is worth a bonus at most tables.
