How to Play Seep

Description

A South Asian fishing game where you capture cards by matching or combining values. Building and sweeping are where the real points are made.

Objective

Team up with the player across from you and capture valuable cards from the shared table until your side has a commanding lead.

Setup

Four players in fixed partnerships, using a standard deck (no Jokers).

Deal four cards to each player and four cards face up to the table.

Rules

On your turn, play a card from your hand to capture a matching card (or several cards adding up to the same value) from the table.

Build a "house" by stacking a captured group together — houses can only be captured as a whole unit from then on, by whoever plays a matching card later.

Can't capture anything? Add your card face up to the table instead.

When hands run out, everyone gets four more cards and play continues until the deck is exhausted.

Winning

Clear the entire table in one capture and it's a sweep — worth a bonus.

Add up your team's captured card values at the end — spades and certain high cards are worth the most.

Play continues, hand after hand, until one team builds a lead of 100 points (or 30, in the shorter version) over the others.
