How to Play Sueca
Description
A Portuguese partnership game built entirely on trump play and reading your partner through the cards they lead. Four players, fixed partners, first team to four points wins.
Objective
Team up with the player across from you and win the most points across ten tricks, mainly by capturing valuable cards.
Setup
Four players in fixed partnerships, using a 40-card deck (remove 8s, 9s, and 10s from a standard deck).
Deal all ten cards to each player, then reveal the dealer's bottom card to set the trump suit.
Rules
The player to the dealer's right leads the first trick.
Follow suit if you can; if you can't, play anything.
Cards rank unusually within each suit: Ace highest, then 7, King, Jack, Queen, then 6 down to 2 — note the Jack beats the Queen.
Highest trump wins the trick, or highest card of the suit led if no trump was played. Winner leads next.
Winning
Add up your team's card points at the end of the hand — Aces and 7s are worth the most, face cards less, low cards nothing.
Score over 60 points to win the hand; go over 90 and it counts double.
First team to four hand-wins takes the match.
